The Skyline Kiwanis Club of Longmont continued its tradition of fundraising for Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley through its annual golf tournament. This year’s tournament at Longmont’s Ute Creek Golf Course raised $24,000 for St. Vrain
Habitat. The nonprofit will use the donation in the construction of its East Rogers Road site, which began in May. The new Longmont development will house nine families. The Skyline Kiwanis golf tournament featured 112 golfers this year. Over the past two decades, the tournaments have raised more than $340,000 for Habitat for Humanity, according to a St. Vrain Habitat news release. Habitat for Humanity builds affordable homes for low-income, local families. Earlier this year, the nonprofit celebrated the grand opening of its Longmont ReStore in a new, bigger location; the store, which sells and accepts donations of home goods, now sits at 33 S. Pratt Parkway. The Skyline Kiwanis Club, which was founded in 1978, supports a variety of local nonprofits and charities. The club has raised and distributed $273,684 for local organizations and individuals in the past three years, according to St. Vrain Habitat Executive Director David Emerson, who is a Skyline Kiwanis member.
